Our People - Board of Directors

David has worked in a variety of industries covering retail, manufacturing and consumer products industries.
During the 1990’s he was Group Finance Director of Hays PLC. He was the Founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WNS Group, an outsourcing business in India, until its flotation on the NYSE and now continues to work closely with Warburg Pincus Private Equity. He is a principal in Somerton Capital Private Equity.
David joined Phoenix on the Board of Directors and as a shareholder in January 2009. He is an Economics graduate and Chartered Accountant.

John has over 25 years management experience in financial services, with wide experience of business disciplines across investment management, sales, service, operations and risk.
This has included significant roles at Aetna UK and Prudential. Most recently, from 2002 he was Head of Business Operations at Insight Investment (HBOS) Plc where he led the UK and offshore fund administration, the management of it’s outsourced retail operations and fund board management.
John joined Phoenix in January 2011 to the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer.

Steve established Phoenix in June 1998 and is the majority shareholder. Steve began working in the investment industry in 1981 with the Britannia Group (now Invesco). He moved to GT Management in 1982 where he was Head of Business Administration and responsible for the building of GT's ground breaking World Asset Management System(WAMS), supporting their fund managers in offices across the world.

Gerard's career has been focussed on financial services. He has been Finance Director for the Framlington Group and Chief Financial Officer for GT Management. More recently he has been Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO at Morley Fund Management and Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO at Hermes, where his responsibilities covered Finance, IT, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal and HR.
He joined Phoenix as a Director and shareholder in 2008. Gerard is a graduate of the London School of Economics and is a Chartered Accountant.

Chris is a Director of Corporate Finance Partners Ltd, a boutique corporate finance advisory firm. He has worked for the London Stock Exchange and the corporate finance department of Laing & Cruickshank/Credit Lyonnais Securities and was particularly involved with advising Investment Trusts.
Chris was a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Quoted Companies Alliance for seven years and chairman for five. He is also a non-executive director of Culver Holdings plc, a previously listed company involved in insurance broking and the IFA market.
Chris joined Phoenix’s Board of Directors as a non-executive in 2005. He is a Mathematics graduate from Cambridge University and a Chartered Accountant.

Theodore has had a distinguished career in financial services founding Town & Country Assistance and was a co-founder of WNS Global Services. Theodore is currently a partner in Somerton Capital LLP, a private equity firm; a non-executive director of Jubilee Managing Agency Ltd, a Lloyds insurance business; and a non-executive director of the Education Board.

Peter has had a successful track record working with financial services firms and the businesses that support them. He was a co-founder and served as Managing Director of Braid Systems. He is an active investor and serves as a director for various financial services organisations including Investmaster, a software provider to the wealth management industry. He has been Chairman of Cadis Software Limited since March 2008.
